Covid-19 Coronavirus Update

Spring gardens Covid 19 Advice for customer safety

As with all of our lives these days, self-catering holidays to Cornwall are going to be very different this year in a number of ways.

We are not sending any health questionnaires as we regard this as illegal.

We are adopting the retailer policy of instructing guests not to come if they have symptoms, are unwell or have been instructed to self isolate. Our full advice to all guests is detailed below. This is generic for The Cottage and The B&B.

At this time, if we need to send additional information to guests, we will do this directly.

Before you travel

  • You must not travel to Cornwall if you or any of your group are showing signs of any symptoms or have been advised to self-isolate under the test and trace system.
  • Generally this year you will need to be well prepared and as self-sufficient at the property as possible - local shops and services are going to be very busy and have limited capacity due to social distancing requirements. In addition, local pubs and restaurants will have reduced capacity. Major supermarket deliveries will be difficult. However, there are huge numbers of local suppliers, shops and stalls selling and delivering locally. If you prepare, investigate and pre-order as best you can, you will benefit from a wide range of wonderful local produce. Our advice is to spend time on the web before your holiday to plan things carefully. The more you plan, the more enjoyable your holiday will be.
  • We would advise you to bring as many of your basic requirements as possible with you. Hand sanitiser, extra hand wash and any cleaning products you wish to use in the property to make you feel comfortable during your stay. The property will be prepared for your arrival and disinfected to the best of their ability by the cleaners, but nothing can be guaranteed for obvious reasons. If you are at all worried, bring your own cleaning items.
  • We will be removing all basic food ingredients, so you will need to bring everything you need for cooking. Most items such as cooking oil or table salt that once may have been left for multiple guests to use is likely to be removed for your own safety. Welcome baskets are also being removed from many properties.
  • Think about ways to occupy the family on rainy days with attractions operating at reduced capacity. Take your own books/board game etc -as many properties will be removing items they once offered guests for your own safety. Just have a think about things you're used to in self-catering that may well not be possible this year. A little bit of planning will mean you can still have a wonderfully relaxing stay in Cornwall.
  • Arrival and departure times have changed this year for obvious reasons.
    Please arrive at
the cottage between 5pm and 8pm,
    The B&B betweem 4-7pm
as we will wish to ensure that everything is fully prepared for you. The property will be prepared for your arrival and disinfected by the owner or housekeeper to the best of their ability, but nothing can be 100& guaranteed. If you have concerns, please make sure you pack additional cleaning items for your own use.
  • Please also note that
you should vacate the cottage by 10am prompt on the day of departure.
you should vacate the B&B by 11am prompt on the day of departure

Once at the property, if you encounter any problems you do need to speak directly to the owner or housekeeper as identified on your arrival guide.

During your stay

  • If you develop ANY SYMPTOMS OF COVID-19 during your stay or are contacted by the test & trace team YOU MUST IMMEDIATELY LEAVE THE PROPERTY, INFORM THE OWNER AND RETURN HOME TO SELF ISOLATE. You are NOT permitted under any circumstances to remain in the property with symptoms.
  • Washing hands is still regarded as the very best method to reduce infection. Please wash your hands frequently & use hand sanitiser whenever necessary to reduce to risk of infection for yourself, your party and those you are in contact with during your visit to Cornwall. Make sure you wash your hands as soon as you get home each day. Bring wipes or hand gel to use throughout the day.
  • Please do not invite additional visitors to your property during your stay. The only guests permitted at the property are those detailed on the booking.
  • Dispose of all rubbish into outdoor bins as directed before departure.
  • Make sure you leave no food in the fridge.
  • Set the dishwasher on a hot cycle at all times, and fill the dishwasher with as many items as you can prior to your departure and set it off on a hot wash.
  • Strip all beds and place into bags as directed, including towels if the property provides them. You may wish to bring your own towels for your peace of mind.
  • On departure, without compromising the security of the property and paying attention to the weather forecast, please where possible leave windows open to air the property before the cleaners arrive.
  • Please assist the cleaners in these unprecedented times, they have an incredibly difficult job, so please do make sure you leave the property clean and tidy.
  • Please make sure you depart the property promptly by the departure time to avoid contact and to give the cleaners enough time to get the property ready for the next guests.

After your stay

  • We thank you for assisting owners, cleaners and housekeepers and for leaving properties in an acceptable manner on your departure. Your help in these unprecedented times is much appreciated.
  • We would advise making sure you wash/sanitise all the items you brought with you to Cornwall when you return home. Simple things like this will hopefully help control the spread of the virus and get the country back on track.
  • We are already offering our cottages for 2021. We'd be delighted to welcome you back to Cornwall so you may enjoy those parts of Cornwall you may have missed this year.
  • Thank you again for booking your holiday with us and I hope you have a lovely stay.
